We’ve known Dan for around eight years and in every role he’s had since we got to know him, Dan has continually looked to make himself better at what he does – he’s a relentless learner and that not only shows a real desire to improve, it shows humility – Dan knows he’s not the finished article. Whether it’s NLP, Reiki or psychotherapy, he’s continually adding to his pool of skills and strengths and most importantly it’s not self-indulgent learning – it keeps Dan relevant for his role. We know there have been times when personally, it hasn’t always been easy to make high performance choices – though he’s consistently done so. It’s easy to make high performance choices when the conditions are favourable – Dan makes them whatever the conditions happen to be and that marks him out.
Those difficult conditions sometimes related to the context in which Dan was operating and where applying the principles of high performance has not been easy, when the organisation he was part of didn’t always understand why a focus on performance mattered or they didn’t feel comfortable with what felt like a radically different approach and perspective. At those times Dan was brave and true and as a result, he has left a legacy at Eurostar and Crossrail that has remained long after he has left. – so others continue to benefit from his hard work, his choices and his sacrifices. As one of his fellow leaders said to us recently, “they broke the mould when they made DDS”. We couldn’t put it better ourselves. We’re proud to welcome Dan into the Hall of Fame.
