Seems a little strange to us that confidence is so important, yet treated so strangely.
Just think, if you’re not feeling that confident, it’s not really the done thing to go around letting people know that you’re not feeling very confident (wow, they’re on the way out) and could do with their support.
However, if you’re feeling really confident, it’s not really the done thing to go around letting people know that you’re feeling really confident (oooh, he’s a bit full of himself) and feel like you can take on anything.
How about we see if we can break the taboo and make confidence a regular source of conversation and action at work. We’ve had some great successes with teams who check in, openly and honestly, at the beginning of each week to talk about their confidence levels and how they’re going to tackle the week ahead.
Let’s have the confidence to talk openly about confidence so that we can find out how much better it will help us perform. Dare you!
